Why did my DVI connection stop working after using my VGA adapter?
My problem is different than most that I've seen online. My DVI connection DID work fine for months. I tried to install a KVM switch because I use 2 PCs. The switch did not support DVI so I had to use my VGA adapter. The switch didn't work so obviously I decided to put the system back the way it was. Well, when I turned on the PC I got NO image at all. I even tried the DVI connection on another monitor and I still got NO image. I downloaded the latest driver for my video card and it still didn't work. If I put the VGA adaptor back on and use the VGA port on the monitor, it works fine. What the? I read several 'possible' solutions online but none worked for me. I need this resolved because I prefer DVI. My video card is an XFX GeForce 8600 GTS with dual DVI-I outs. The MOBO is an XFX nForce 680i LT SLI. The worst thing about this is that it worked fine for months before trying that KVM switch and now my DVI signal isn't picked up by 2 different monitors. I've tried everything...help!
